My Human Match: A Sleepy Soulmate
I was adopted when I was just six weeks old, a special birthday gift for a girl named Vera, who turned ten that year. From the beginning, we were a perfect match. Both of us are easygoing, love sleeping, dislike rushing, and carry just the right amount of stubborn charm.
Life Was Peaceful—Until It Wasn’t
Most of my days have been calm and filled with love. But not every chapter of a cat’s life is sunshine and snuggles. I used to be the only cat in the house, and my best friend was a noble German Shepherd named Martha. She was a queen in her own right. Sadly, she passed on. I’m still unsure where she went, but I often heard whispers of illness and age. I miss her deeply.
Soon after Martha, a bouncy black puppy named Blacky arrived. She was no Martha, of course—far smaller, unpredictable, and occasionally confused about species boundaries. Let’s just say, she got a little too friendly with me sometimes. I’m a well-mannered cat, not a chew toy!
Emotional Losses and New Additions
One of the first times I truly felt sorrow was when a tiny kitten joined our home... and vanished not long after. I heard the humans mention illness again.
Then came Laska—playful, pushy, and utterly disruptive. A street-smart kitten the family took in, she instantly stole everyone's attention—even Vera’s! I suddenly felt... displaced. Like I didn’t belong anymore.
She had no manners, no respect for personal space, and seemed addicted to chaos. Then her belly started to grow. At first, I was baffled. Was she overeating? Then it hit me.
Surprise! Kittens Galore
One Friday morning, I returned from my routine garden walk to a shocking scene—Laska had given birth. One kitten… two… wait—five!? I froze in disbelief.
Now, I’m neutered—happily, might I add—but I still have paternal instincts. I tried to help. I really did. But these little fluffballs were loud, clingy, and endlessly hungry. Poor Laska didn’t get a moment’s peace.
Eventually, four were adopted by family friends, but one kitten stayed behind. She was calmer and far more respectful. I may be biased, but I think my influence turned her into a well-behaved young cat.
A Home Full of Pets
Apparently, my family has a thing for animals. In October 2016, they adopted a hyper little dog named Coffee. I’ve never met a creature so... chaotic. He eats everything, pounces on everyone, and needed a professional dog trainer just to be manageable.
But still, they adore him. Humans are strange that way.
My Real-Life Catnappings
There were two moments in my life when I truly felt fear—and both times, it involved being catnapped.
The first happened in 2009. I was taken and kept in a dark place for nearly three weeks. Barely fed, I was stuck with a stranger-cat I had no interest in befriending. It was traumatizing.
Then, in 2017, it happened again—this time for over six weeks. I couldn’t believe the kidnappers didn’t realize I was neutered. What were they even planning? I wish they’d just left me alone to live my peaceful indoor cat life.
Final Thoughts from a Wise Cat
So here I am—older, wiser, still living in Bucharest with my ever-growing animal family. Life as a Burmese cat is rarely dull. We’re known not just for our silky coats and big eyes but also for our intelligent cat personality and emotional depth.
Despite all the drama, I remain loyal to my humans. Even Laska, in small doses.
So if you're thinking about pet adoption or learning more about cat behavior and cat intelligence, take it from me—life with cats isn’t always easy, but it’s always meaningful.
