When Bobby, a small Lhasa Apso puppy with a loud bark and an even bigger heart, lost his human, his world turned upside down. But from heartbreak grew hope, healing, and a new life in the South of France.
How Bobby Became Part of Our Family

Bobby didn’t arrive in his new home the usual way. He was a bequest—a final wish from an elderly woman who adored him deeply. When she passed suddenly, Bobby was just a few months old. Having only known the comfort of her presence and the confines of a quiet home, he was thrust into uncertainty. Thankfully, her best friend kept the promise she made, and Bobby was adopted into a new family.
Moving from England to the French Countryside

After vaccinations and travel documents were arranged, Bobby made a big leap—from England to the sun-drenched countryside of Aude, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, France. The sights, sounds, and smells of the outside world were all foreign to him. At first, he was frightened, even by the simple sight of someone lying down, a reminder of the human he'd lost.
How Our Other Dogs Helped Bobby Adapt
Bobby wasn’t alone in this journey. Two other dogs in the family, Bertie (another Lhasa Apso) and Hector (a wise Tibetan Terrier), stepped in as his guides. They showed him how to explore the world with confidence, teaching him how to walk on a leash, interact with people, and most importantly—how to simply be a dog.
Bobby’s First Encounter with Nature and Water

The first time Bobby saw open space near a local lake, he froze. Unsure and overwhelmed, he lay flat on the ground. But seeing his new brothers enjoying the outdoors gave him courage. When he eventually dipped his paws in water for the first time, a new version of Bobby was born. Now, he loves swimming and splashing in rivers during the summer heat.
Why Lhasa Apsos Are Known as Spiritual Sentinels
Stubborn yet loyal, Bobby embodies the spirit of the Lhasa Apso. Once guardians in Tibetan monasteries, Lhasa Apsos were known as "Abso Seng Kye" or "Bark Lion Sentinel Dogs." They were bred to alert monks of intruders, and that ancestral role lives on in Bobby—especially when he howls daily with local dogs in response to the church bells.
From ‘Bo Chan’ to ‘Pollux’: Life in a French Village

Today, Bobby is three years old and a beloved part of a small village community. Often greeted by locals with a cheerful "Bonjour Pollux!" (a nod to the French name of Dougal from The Magic Roundabout ), he is a familiar face on walks and at the village market.
How Bobby Helped Us Heal from Loss
Despite his loud bark and cheeky ways, Bobby is a sensitive soul. He still carries the emotional scars of his early loss, but in return, he has given his new family laughter, companionship, and healing. His presence helped his new owner process grief, offering comfort only a pet can provide.
